    International Day of Older Persons 2022

    On October 1, we celebrate the International Day of Older Persons.

    First observed in 1991, the General Assembly of the United Nations designated this day to draw attention to the important contribution of seniors and to changing demographics: the greying of the population, or the "age of ageing."  We mark this day as a way of providing education on public issues and concerns, to mobilize for change and action and to celebrate achievements.

    Retirees meet in person

    Retirees from across the province came together for the Ontario Region Retired Workers Council on May 11 - their first in person meeting since 2019.

    “Many have remained active throughout the pandemic, and that will only increase as we can gather in person again.”

    Retired Workers Council goes virtual

    国际赌城下注官网 retirees from across the country participated in the first virtual Retired Workers Council, which took place online September 7-9, 2021.

    “Retirees have learned a new way of doing activism, as we have learned a new way to deliver workshops, programs and in fact this Council,” said Barb Dolan, 国际赌城下注官网 Director of Retired Workers, as she welcomed the delegates. “We’re moving forward and doing the business that we need to do of our union and of the retired workers.”

    The Council will be held virtually from Tuesday, September 7, 2021 to Thursday, September 9, 2021.
